Roxas City – Provincial Director Jenny D. Destua of DILG- Capiz announced recently the winners in the search for outstanding municipalities in this province for the 2007 Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran (GPK) program of the Office of the President.

This program is not only for the annual search for outstanding LGUs as evaluated by various government agencies and non-government organizations (NGOs) led by the DILG as implementing agency but as a prelude to a way of life of everybody in our community.

The winners are grouped into two categories: Category “A” – 1st to 3rd class municipalities and Category “B” – 4th to 6th class municipalities.
Winners under Category A with the point scores are, 1st, Panay with 99.68 per cent (overall assessment numerical); 2nd, Tapaz, (98.16%); 3rd, Pontevedra (97.43%); and 4th, Jamindan, (93.92%).

For Category B winners: 1st, Dao (99.75%); 2nd Pres. Roxas, 98.63%); 3rd, Mambusao (98.03%); 4th, Cuartero (96.80%); 5th Maayon (96.55%); 6th, Ivisan (95.96%); 7th, Sapian (95.64%); 8th, Pilar (94.42%); 9th, Dumalag (93.66%); 10th, Sigma (92.48%); and 11th, Panitan (91.18).

Dumarao town has been declared Hall of Famer, thus, excluded in the evaluation assessment.

Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco congratulated the GPK winners with the hope that this national program would be sustained with the involvement of everyone in making our community clean, green and environment friendly. (BPC)
