City – Newly elected city officials of this
city attended a three-day orientation program for newly elected
officials held at the Centennial Resort Hotel and Convention
Center, Iloilo City, September 27-28 this year.
The rationale behind this training program is that the local
elections paved way for a new set of local elective officials
in most of the local government units (LGUs). It provided
for a transition for the LGUs that have new incoming officials,
and for the re-elected, a fresh three term mandate.
The Local Government Academy (LGA), the training
arm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government
(DILG) have prepared an orientation program for newly elected
officials in order to understand their state of development
and to come up with a term base road map consistent with the
present development agenda of the national government.
Among the topics taken up were NEO Orientation
Program Overview; Knowing my LGU – The State of Local
Governance Report; Helping LGUs get acquainted with task and
responsibilities; Achieving the National Vision; Assisting
LGUs in crafting the
Tansistion Roadmap; Local Legislation; among others.
Participants are city mayor, vice mayor,
10 SP members, SP Secretary.
Among the resource persons were Jose Aurelio B. Roldan, City
DILG head; LGOO V Evelyn Vista, LGOO II Dino Ponsaran, OIC-TSD
