ROXAS City – The city government recently closed a carwash station here due to several violations.
Mayor Angel Alan Celino revoked the business permit of Ching’s Carwash, owned and operated by Consejo Doroteo, wife of Barangay Captain Fred Doroteo of Brgy. 5 here.
The City Legal Office (CLO) informed Mrs. Doroteo that the mayor’s office has been bombarded by complaints regarding the operation of her carwash station.
The business establishment uses a portion of the road to accommodate its clients, the CLO said. The CLO added that the carwash station also has stocks of stagnant water, which is known as a breeding place of dengue-causing mosquitoes.
These practices, the CLO said, pose danger to motorists and threaten the health and safety of the community.
The CLO also found out that the carwash station’s Mayor’s Permit had no supporting documents — no zoning clearance and sanitary permit, and had not undergone building, electrical wiring and fire safety inspections.
Former Mayor Vicente Bermejo issued the permit to Ching’s Carwash on June 21, 2010. Acting City Legal Office Luvim Amores issued a notice, giving Mrs. Doroteo 10 days to comply with the necessary requirements.
Mrs. Doroteo, however, refused to receive and sign the receiving copy of the notice as advised by her husband.
Meanwhile, five commercial establishments here were warned for operating without Mayor’s Permit — barely a week after Celino assumed office.
Sherlita Tumlos, Business Permit and Licensing Division officer-in-charge, has sent notices to the following business establishment owners/operators:
Helen To of Goodshop Supermart
Janyn Apaitan of Soul Superclub Resto Bar, Cebrew Café and Red Sun Restaurant, and
Leny Apaitan of Black and White Drugstore.
Tumlos said these establishments have been operating without permit, violating City Ordinance No. 27-A-92.
The establishments complied with the needed requirements within the three-week allotted time.
