ROXAS CITY — Capiz will bring its rich
cultural heritage and distinct products to the 2007
Western Visayas Regional Tourism Assembly which reeled
off Nov. 12 in Bacolod City.
The province will participate in various activities
lined up by the Department of Tourism (DOT) for the
premier tourism even, including the regional tourism
fair (Nov. 12-18), travel exchange (Nov. 12-14), cultural
showcase (Nov. 12-18), tourism congress (Nov. 14), tourism
olympics (Nov. 15), search for Miss WV Tourism (Nov.
1), and parade of festivals (Nov. 16).
The cultural showcase, which will start at 6:00 p.m.,
will highlight the province’s participation in
the event in a day-long Capiz Day celebration on Nov.
16 at the SM Activity Center.
Provincial Tourism Officer Al Tesoro said to perform
during the cultural showcase are the Colegio de la Purisima
Concepcion Chorale. Real Voice Music Studio, Panay Bukidnon
Performing Group, and Dagway Sigmahanon, Inc.
Mutya sang Sinadya sa Halaran 2006 Helen Grace G. Gonzales
of Filamer Christian College will represent Capiz in
the Miss Tourism pageant to be staged at the Negros
Occidental Provincial Capitol.
The local government unit and CPC will showcase the
province’s innate culture and way of life at the
parade of festivals on Nov. 16.
Part of the provincial delegation is now in Bacolod
City for the initial activities of the regional tourism
assembly. Local producers, business groups and entrepreneurs
from the province and Ro0xas City will also join the
province at the event, which was hosted last year by
Iloilo.
Tourism development and promotion in one of the priority
projects under a three-year development program crafted
by Gov. Tanco, which has “Captivating Capiz”
as its vision.
Part of the infrastructure projects that President
Arroyo wanted to be implemented under the “Super
Regions” program are intended to support the tourism
program particularly in the Central Philippines Super
Region, the country’s tourism belt.
The President has issued an Administrative Order calling
for the expeditious implementation and close monitoring
and for the Department of Budget and Management (DBM)
to release the needed funds in coordination with implementing
agencies. |
