Roxas City — The Bureau of Internal
Revenue (BIR) in Capiz has raked in more than P325 million
over a 10-month period. Information Officer Ma. Gracia
Balgos disclosed that from January to October this year,
the agency’s total collection reached more than
P325.290 million.
Last year’s collection during the same period
was only more than P282.620 million, Balgos said, pointing
out that there is more than P42.67 million hike in revenue
collection this year.
Bagos said that last month’s revenue collection
was more than P32.293 million which is higher than their
target of PP32.112 million for said month.
According to her, there is more than P7.019 million
increase in revenue collection in October this year
compared to their collection in the same month last
year which was only more than P25.273 million.
The revenue collection arms of the government have
been stepping up their tax administration programs,
including the adoption of technology-based measures
to strengthen collection efficiency.
Recently, BIR Capiz has launched here the Nationwide
Rollout of Computerized Systems (NRCS) as part of the
national goal to stamp out tax cheats. The initiatives
of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Bureau
of Customs (BOC) aim to ensure that the government will
remain on track with its revenue target and goal of
having a zero budget deficit by the end of next year.President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo earlier said that the government
is determined to go after tax cheats and prosecute them,
stressing that there would be no “sacred cows”
in the campaign against tax evasion.The country was
able to meet the challenges of collecting more revenues,
cutting down tax cheats, strengthening the peso and
moving the stock market, the President said, reassuring
the public to invest the gains in revenue in human and
physical infrastructure. |
