| The
City’s Anti-Littering Campaign |
- Ord. No. 51 – Enacting the
anti-littering ordinance of the City of Roxas, providing
penalties for the violation thereof and for other
purposes.
Littering is an offense that could
present with serious repercussions. Maybe not immediately,
but later when litter has clogged the city’s drainage
system and contaminated the waterways. To prevent these,
the above ordinance seeks to eradicate littering in
the city by prohibiting it and sanctioning those who
violate the above ordinance.
- Ord. No. 016-2001 – An ordinance
amending section 5 of ordinance no. 51, series of
1998, otherwise known as the Roxas City Anti-littering
Ordinance of 1998 by increasing the penalties provided
thereof.
As with the preceding ordinance, this
ordinance has the same objectives but this time the
penalties have been increased to further discourage
people who think that the penalties are light enough.

| The
City’s Anti-Smoking Campaign |
- Ord. No. 22-94 - An ordinance
prohibiting smoking inside movie houses, public and
private schools, inside hospital buildings, and health
centers; private air-conditioned establishments open
to the public; government offices, except individual
rooms, is hereby prohibited within the territorial
jurisdiction of the city of Roxas.
Smoking causes a huge percentage of
the world’s air pollution. The city of Roxas does
not want to contribute to this percentage and at the
same time protect its residents from the threat of respiratory
diseases and lung cancer. The above ordinance did not
actually prohibit smoking but it limited the number
of places where people can smoke in order to discourage
this very unhealthy and environmentally hazardous habit. |
