Description

ut of Forty seven (47) Barangays comprising the City of Roxas, accommodate is only the refuse taken from Forty Two (42) Barangays. The populace served was recorded to 27,341 Household. (Projection: RESD, CPDO, Roxas City: 2001).

The waste management was previously under the General Services Office, However on September 22, 2000 and Executive Order No.11, gave rise to the creation of the Solid Waste Management Office, which sole purpose is to handle the waste management affairs. Presently the working force is composed of 7 Administrative Staff, 5 Mechanics/Welders motor pool garbage section, 16 Drivers, 77 Sanitary Collectors, 58 Street Sweepers, 4 Monitoring Foreman, 2 Watchman (Dumpsite) having all in all 169 personnel’s. the Solid Waste Management Office have six (6) open trucks, one (1) mighty mite, one (1) payloader and one (1) backhoe.

Recently the Roxas City Government newly acquired composting facility from Lacto Asia Pacific Corporation and it is composed of ten (10) units of Rotary Composter Drum, one (1) unit Rotary Screener, and one (1) unit Hammer mill/ Shredder Machine.

 
Composting Direction:
  1. Gathering of market biodegradable waste.
  2. Shredding/hammer milling of market biodegradable waste.
  3. Pour shredded/hammer milled waste materials into the rotary composter drum at the following proportions.
    1. 1,500 kgs. Per drum of shredded/hammer milled bio-waste; b.) 300 kgs. Of happy soil premix, (5 kgs. Bio-waste: 1 kg. Happy soil premix.)
    2. The mixture stays in the drums in order to mix rotate and ferment for up to Five (5) days.
  4. The compost is harvested air or sun dried for maturation for another 5-7 days.
  5. The compost is screened for grading and packaging.
