Global Positioning System Training

The Local Government of Roxas City has acquired the latest in Global Positioning System (GPS) equipments. Trainings are being conducted by Mr. Robert Ong assisted by Mr. Ricardo Maliwat, both technical representatives of the supplier from metro manila. Our employees under the offices of the City Engineer,City Planning and Development and City Agricultural Services are in attendance. The trainings will last for a week starting November 4 to 9, 2008.

2007 Bar Exam Results Released

MANILA, Philippines -- A total of 1,289 have passed the 2007 bar examinations, the Supreme Court announced on Saturday afternoon, making for a 22.91 percent passing rate as 5,626 law graduates from 109 law schools took the bar examinations September last year.

Roxas City has a new website

The city government of Roxas headed by Mayor Vicente Bermejo has adopted a new web page to put itself on track in the global information highway as well as enhance its existing online facility. The design for its official web page, which was first adopted by the city in 2005, was chosen by the city government from the entries of a web page design competition conducted by the Office of the City Mayor early this month in time for the Sinadya sa Halaran festival celebration of the city and Province of Capiz from December 5 to 8.

Capicenos capped their annual Sinadya sa Halaran festivities here Saturday with a spectacular grand parade of festivals and the 300th year celebration of the city fiesta. The parade of festivals showcased the culture and way of life of Capicenos whose people have reinforced intertown collaboration following the successful holding of the three-century-old city's fiesta.

Roxas City Mayor Vicente B. Bermejo have high praises for the organizers of the Senior Citizens Week Celebration at the opening program held at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center here October 1. He said his administration under the banner of "Sulong Roxas City" is supportive of the objectives and programs sought by the members of the elderly and senior citizens of this city. He knew that most of the barangays in this city have associations of senior citizens for the purpose of uniting themselves for the availment of the various benefits intended for them under Republic Act No. 9257, otherwise known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act.

Newly elected city officials attend orientation training

Roxas City Newly elected city officials of this city attended a three-day orientation program for newly elected officials held at the Centennial Resort Hotel and Convention Center, Iloilo City, September 27-28 this year. The rationale behind this training program is that the local elections paved way for a new set of local elective officials in most of the local government units (LGUs). It provided for a transition for the LGUs that have new incoming officials, and for the re-elected, a fresh three term mandate.
The Local Government Academy (LGA), the training arm of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) have prepared an orientation program for newly elected officials in order to understand their state of development and to come up with a term base road map consistent with the present development agenda of the national government.
